Del. Tim Manchin (D-Marion) has decided against a run for Congress, according to a Times West Virginian report.
Politico reported last month Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin's cousin was in Washington, mulling a decision to run against Rep. David McKinley (R) for West Virginia's first district congressional seat.
However, over the holidays, he decided against it.
Former state Sen. Mike Oliverio (D) decided not to run last month. He narrowly lost to McKinley in 2010.
So far, no big names on the Democratic side have announced plans to run for the seat. McKinley's remaining potential challengers include Democrat Susan Thorn and independent Raymond Davis.
Of course, nobody knows at this point what district anybody lives in as far as 2012 is concerned. Federal judges recently threw out the newly drawn congressional map, calling it unconstiutional. It's unclear if the state will rely on the map drawn in 2000 or if another one will be put together in time for this year's election.
