In this week's on-air "At the Capitol" segment, we talk with polling analyst Mark Blankenship about the crowded field of candidates on the ballot this year...I mean in 2012.
In recent weeks, you've likely heard more about who's running in next year's races than the special gubernatorial election this year.
Just think about all the choices next year: another gubernatorial race, Joe Manchin's seat is up for grabs, all the U.S. House seats, the Statehouse races, West Virginia Supreme Court (are you exhausted yet?). And, the list goes on!
Blankenship gives some insight as to why these races are starting so early. (hint: money!)
Also, Del. Don Perdue (D-Wayne) and Sen. Ron Stollings (D-Boone) recently sent a letter to U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin addressing their concerns about his support for block granting the federal Medicaid program.
By clicking on the video, you'll hear from Perdue and see what Manchin had to say in response to the letter.
Lawmakers are back at the Capitol next week for the July interim session. There should be some interesting stories out of that with meetings on redistricting and Marcellus Shale reglations scheduled.
See you then!
