Following Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear's big win in Kentucky Tuesday night, we take a closer look at why the race was never close in this week's on-air "At the Capitol" segment.
Much of the media reporting leading up to the election pointed to Republican David Williams' personality, namely his reputation for being a bully.
But, when I caught up with University of Kentucky political science professor Stephen Voss, an expert in voting behavior, he told me that's not the case at all. He also clearly explained how the Bluegrass State could at one time support Sen. Rand Paul (R) by a decisive margin and then turn around and let a Democrat keep the governor's seat a year later.
Of course, Kentucky actually has a long history of doing that. Voss' explanation why is pretty interesting though. Click on the video to see what he had to say.
