Update 9/22 - A quick update to your weekend's weather... Fall begins today!

Most of the day will be spent in mostly cloudy skies, but the shower activity will continue to be low during the day. Don't expect rain to disrupt your plans. The best opportunity for showers will be the second-half of the day, but even then we're not expecting much.

Good Friday morning everyone-- heading into fall this weekend!

We've had a decent couple of afternoons around here (chilly mornings notwithstanding), but now it's time to track a few more showers. Most of the day today will be just fine, though everyone wants to know what it's going to be like come kick-off time... I hear there might be a football game in Huntington this evening ;;-)

Here's a look at the weather maps for today:

HPC - Surface Map - Friday PM

A weak area of low pressure travels along a stalled out boundary, and puts us back on shower patrol. The places that look to see rain the most from this are the ones that were on the low end of the last event that came through (interior Ohio). Here's a breakdown of what we'll be looking at over time:

NAM - Friday PM	NAM - Overnight Fri/Sat	NAM - Saturday PM

Notice the bulls-eye of yellows and greens in northern Ohio. This is response to the best dynamics missing us to that direction. Travelers heading up I-77 toward Akron or Cleveland later Friday should keep in mind the prospect of thunder (though no areas of severe weather are expected). As far as the football games are concerned, locally the games will occur during a time where showers are "around", but overall the situation does not look too bad. There will be folks who do not get a drop, while others may need to get out the umbrella temporarily. It's more likely that Saturday features a more widespread shower event. Even that looks a little pedestrian though. If you're going to be heading to the OU, WVU, OSU, etc. football games, you might want to think about dealing with a temporary shower.

Temperatures spike today, before falling again this weekend. By Sunday we'll see breaking clouds and returning Sun, but that will set up another cold night in the lower 40s. Afternoon highs go like this through the weekend:

The first day of fall (otherwise known as the "autumnal equinox") is September 22nd-- tomorrow. Technically at 10:49am, because that's when the Sun's most direct rays officially cross the equator on their way down to the Southern Hemisphere.
