Good Tuesday morning to one and all :-)
The clouds of yesterday are getting out of town, and the Sun will return today. High pressure builds in from the southwest, giving us an interesting contrast of temperatures from one day to the next, despite no change in the skies.
|HPC - Tuesday PM|
Initially, the response of the arrival of high pressure will be for cooling. Temperatures this morning will be more than 20-degrees cooler than what we saw at the same point in time the day before. [This means 40° or so, lower in the sheltered valleys]. Afternoon highs will be below normal as well, but still muster the 60s. This is some excellent weather for October, and will really get you in the fall swing of things.
Now... for all those folks out there who just so happen to prefer summer and feel like they have to be dragged kicking and screaming into winter-- Wednesday is for you :-)
Airflow around an area of high pressure is clockwise. This means that we'll get southerly breezes mid-week, which further means that we're talking mid-70s weather again. Get outside and enjoy it, no matter what your preference.
The next time for showers will come Thursday, as another deep trough (typical for fall) rolls in. Here's what it looks like on the GFS:
|GFS - Thursday AM||GFS - Friday AM|
A low pressure system heads into the Great Lakes, and becomes 'cut off', left to wander around into the weekend. Initially, there's some punch to it on early Thursday, and we'll be tracking scattered thunder along the line as it approaches. However, because of the time of approach and the fact that the bulk of the energy heads just to our north, I'm not so sure we'll end up getting the rumbles.
The one thing we will all get though, is the return of the 60s fall chill lasting through the weekend. We'll also struggle to get back to full sunshine the whole way through. Wings of moisture rotate around the lakes will keep clouds in the mix, even if the showers stay just outside.
