7-22 Update - A well-deserved respite, right on the weekend

Showers and storms are now largely behind us. Time for some R-n-R. The only questions are: how long till the Sun shines bright, and how long can it stick around...

7-22 Update - We're expecting plenty of fog around the region this morning, so have a look at some maps that track that sort of thing :-)

GOES-13 Fog Product (Experimental) GOES-13 Fog Depth Estimate

On the left-hand map, the fog would be in the yellow-ish color, and on the right-hand map the thickest fog goes beyond the green and into other colors (the legends are on there at the bottom)

Once we get done with it, we should be good to for some typical warm July sunshine.

Saturday!

Time to get some rest :-)

The showers and storms of the past week are quickly fading from memory, and everyone who has lost power are coming back online more quickly than before. Today will feature returning sunshine, though folks who are viewing this blog in the eastern WV mountains may content with just a few stragglers. The NAM bears this out nicely:

NAM - Precipitation - Saturday PM NAM - Cloud Cover - Saturday PM

Even if you do trip into a few showers, you should still be alright for outdoor activities in the mountains (Gauley dam release anyone?)

The best part of the weekend will be Sunday, where we'll nose in a little bit of drier air and increase the sunshine (and the temperatures). Expect highs in the upper 80s with a few low 90s by early next week.

We'll be tracking the return of the afternoon showers and storms once we get to Monday and Tuesday.
