Another Great Fall Day Leading Into The Holiday Week
High pressure continues to dominate the landscape, with dry skies expected to start off the week.

It's a great day to throw around the football. Perfect fall weather inching up toward 60-degrees under delightful skies.
High pressure continues to control the region:

Even though the center of the high pressure system is up east of Maine, since it's a 1038mb guy (pretty strong) it can extend its influence well back along the Appalachian Mountains. You can see that the pressure lines overhead are in the 1030mb range even here, which by itself could easily qualify as a good area of high pressure. High pressure is associated with diverging and sinking air (as opposed to the converging and lifting air of a low pressure system). Thus, we can expect another day of smooth sailing.
Tony has put out a blog post himself on this dry weather, talking about its prospects for hunting season. Check it out. Better have a plan for crunching leaves underfoot -- I suspect the tree-stand will come in handy
Our next opportunity for precipitation is still around that overnight Tuesday / early Wednesday timeframe, but don't be expecting anything notable.

Not exactly the storm of the century...
Around Thanksgiving time, we will have no problem passing the turkey in yet more dry skies. However, things may get a little interesting towards the tail-end of that same week.

First, on Thanksgiving day we have a coastal Nor'easter in the far right of that left-hand image-- however it's too far off-shore to make any difference to anyone. Then, on Sunday we have a weak Alberta Clipper that transforms into a strengthening coastal low pressure system as it heads farther offshore. It appears to want to show up just in time to throw back some snowfall for parts of central and southern New England, as well as orient the windflow off the lakes for our area. We'll have to see just how many can get some white out of this. It certainly would make the hunters happier-- and did I already mention that Snowshoe Mountain will be open by then?
One last thing-- the above two maps are already showing two of the anticipated storm tracks we discussed in part of my blog series on the upcoming winter season. Not bad.
