Welcome to Wednesday.
It's a colder time around here, as we discussed yesterday. Check out the 7-Day for the temps. We should be around 50 this time of year, so what we're experiencing is actually a return to normal rather than a cold snap. It's still not cold enough for snowflakes around here. We're not going to see much of anything but sunshine for the next two days though.

Hope you don't mind ;-)
The 700mb chart is showing the relative humidity at cloud level. The browns show humidities < 30% (the darker browns < 10%). We then creep back into the clouds on Friday, but as we were saying yesterday, the showers are primarily focused just to our north, clipping us with scattered patches Friday before bringing a more directed shot of showers in the weekend.

This is another rain-maker for the area, but up ahead there's another storm system early next week that is the beginning of a pattern change for the area. The place we can notice it the most is with the upper air pattern:

I've indicated the jet-stream with a blue arrow. The chart for Monday is a much more December-like scenario for us if it holds. In fact, take a look at the surface map for this coming Monday night:

Following an initial surge of rain, temperatures at the 850mb level drop to -6 C and the moisture is still there helped out by a coastal redevelopment near southern New England. That is a snow scenario for the tri-state, in particular West Virginia. Since I like snow in December, I'll be watching this one a little more than the others, perhaps in hopes to keep it alive (you know what can happen to these good-looking storms when we get into the near-term and out of the long-range) ;-)
