Early August heat-wave coming, but it's a baby one...

Leftover showers still around today, but the story will eventually change into some early August sunshine and returning heat. Get ready for some days in the 90s before afternoon storms return during the weekend.

It's Hump-Day -- gotta be all down hill from here, right?

Well...we'll just see about that.

Yesterday's storms fired up in the mountains right on schedule, but there weren't many storms that showed up in southern Ohio, so not a perfect forecast. The weak frontal system ended up washing out well before getting here. This means we'll have to keep an eye on things for one more day until its remnants can stagger through. It'll be one of those deals where there's sunshine to go around, but also these pesky showers-- and by Thursday we'll be back into dry skies. Here's the NAM on this:

NAM - Wednesday PM NAM - Thursday PM

Even if the showers are just scattered about, the story of the last two days clearly indicates that whatever ones pop up can put down an inch in isolated areas.

Once we're out of those woods, we'll be hitting the August ground running. Highs will cross the 90-degree mark for a few days in a row, signalling a heat wave.

Given the weather we've been through in parts of June and July, I suppose we can handle this... but it's been a little while since we've gotten into the low 90s for a few days in a row. So, expect to be uncomfortable.

We'll get our rescue this weekend, but unfortunately it comes at the price of gathering afternoon thunder.
