Lingering showers to linger no more
Showers come to an end from west to east today, with breaking clouds filling in behind them. A nice set of days are lining up for us, but there are a couple of flies in the ointment (isn't there always?)
A good Tuesday morning to one and all...
The day starts out with the same sort of misty fog we saw yesterday, but this time we've got more hope of improvement this afternoon. Nevertheless, the moisture will be lingering-- particularly in the mountains. Mother Nature, do you have to let it linger?

The showers and clouds will slowly break up today as the bulk of the energy moves to the east. This shows up fairly well on the NAM Simulated Radar product:

It's not a whole lot of rain, but the main thing is how long we have to wait until sunshine fills back in. Temperatures toward the River Cities and the west may end up several degrees warmer than the Charleston area because of the extra opportunity for Sun.
High pressure returns to the area through the rest of the week, but there's a nagging issue or two that should be discussed. First, here's the good weather coming to town:

Another one of those "Big Bubble - No Trouble" kind of events, but it won't always be so pretty. Just before this are of high pressure swings in, one last turn-over of the atmosphere looks likely, where moisture is squeezed out of the sky as the air dries out. Again, we go to the simulated radar, though it's a close call considering this product is about as far-looking as we've got it for this situation.

There's our little sneaky line of showers (and isolated thunder) trying to spot up in the afternoon. Outside of this one episode, the day looks to have returning sunshine on both ends. Inside, expect an isolated quick downpour that finishes on the order of minutes. They don't look to be for everybody though.
Thursday and Friday gets us back into the 80s mode, with perhaps another run-in with sneaky showers later Saturday. It's rare around here that we get 4 dry days in a row, so I'm initially skeptical about the idea anyway. The best possible shot beyond Wednesday will be this coming Saturday. Naturally, we can talk about both as we get closer to those days... No need to linger ;-)
