9/20 Update - Just a quick note here, as we're still in line for another stellar afternoon of sunshine. Temperatures this morning will sink down to their coldest thus far in the not-yet-fall season. The Huntington/Charleston area itself will bottom out in the 40-45 range, but many of the sheltered valley areas outside the cities will tiptoe into the upper 30s. Even a kiss of frost is in the offing, particularly toward interior Ohio.
Take heart, all ye warm weather lovers-- all is not lost. A second day in a row of sunshine in the summertime is usually good to lift up the afternoon highs at least, and today is no exception. Expect to be in the mid 70s-- 5-10 degrees better than yesterday. :-)
Welcome to your Wednesday-- turning the corner toward the weekend.
How fitting it is that the Jackson Apple Festival is going to have some primo apple picking weather. Fall is in the air for the Golden Delicious Apple Festival in Clay, WV as well. Our storm system that brought one to as much as four inches of rain has moved through, and the clouds are breaking.

High pressure sits for a spell overhead, and if you liked the weather we had last weekend, you're going to love this stuff right here :-)
Now, the morning temperatures will sink deep into the 40s in the valleys, so the coats will be in order for the kids and early risers. Just expect to be carrying them for the second-half of the day as we bounce back-- first to the 60s today, then to the 70s tomorrow.
We'll try to get Friday into the mix as well, but our luck will be running thin by then. Here's the GFS:
|GFS - Friday PM||GFS - Saturday PM|
It doesn't look to be a big deal, but it will keep the foot on the pedal of below-normal temperatures. Highs will again drop back to the 60s, with lows into the 40s. In fact, here's a readout of primary precipitation type on Saturday morning:
I suppose we're getting closer to that time of year where we start seeing the blue (flakes) on the map :-)
