Good Tuesday morning everyone!
It's back to work! (and yet another day at the office for the rest of us ;-)
I hope everyone who was able to take some time off got to spend it with friends and family-- without dodging too many downpours. The rain has indeed been beneficial. Despite the near end to the growing season, the lawn and flower gardens will still appreciate it.
Our weather map continues to feature a remnant low (Isaac) nearby, which will slooowly move across during the day.
|HPC - Surface Map - Tuesday PM|
As has been the case these past several days, we'll see an up-tick in the coverage of showers during the afternoon, and a minimum in the late-morning. This cycle will continue for as long as the system is in place, but it will inch along to the east over the next few days.
|NAM - Tuesday AM||NAM - Tuesday PM||NAM - Wednesday PM|
Just with the images from yesterdays, I wanted to show you the cycle of rain flaring up during the afternoon and dying down at other times. Also, notice that the slow eastward creep of the weather system will still put I-79 and Corridor-G (points east) in line for a lingering shower on Wednesday. Folks out toward the west in Kentuck and Ohio will dry out a little and see breaking clouds later in the day.
The best sky conditions we'll get this week will be Thursday, as a weak area of high pressure gets squeezed out by the next system arriving in time for the weekend.
This weekend also has a bit of good news in it (to piggy-back on yesterdays assessment of the possibility of below-normal temperatures)... Check out these numbers from the GFS:
|GFS - MaxTemps - Thursday||GFS - MaxTemps - Friday||GFS - MaxTemps - Saturday|
Numbers like that (70s) on the weekend..? I can probably take a little rain for that. If the temperatures in the rest of the Ohio valley are any indication, we'll be in the 70s into next week too.
How... September-like ;-)
