Searching for rain...

A lot of us need it. We don't want it on a weekend naturally, but at this point it's whenever we can get it.

Good Saturday morning everyone.

Today is another day we look for rain and not find it. There are showers on the map in central Kentucky (storms too), but the air dries out closer to the mountains such that these things will have a near impossible task of staying together just to clip the eastern part of the state.

Things look a little more promising on Sunday, as a front approaches. Here's how it looks from HPC:

HPC - Sunday PM

The main body of moisture looks to miss us to the north and stay up along I-70, but the models want to bring a few storm clusters down our way anyway. The NAM shows the following:

NAM - Sunday PM NAM - Monday AM

Whatever ends up making it here will have some thunder riding in with it, but so far I wouldn't get too excited about it. We run the risk of getting downpours or nothing, which wouldn't help the flowers too much.

All you Father's Day golfers out there should know that the AM tee-times are much better looking than the PMs on Sunday. FestivALL in Charleston will be a fantastic outing idea-- but bring that Sunscreen and drink plenty of fluids (of the hydrating kind). Hopefully everyone at least gets a little piece from these showers/storms, because beyond this the cupboard is going to get a little bare again.

Returning high pressure and sunshine brings "heat wave" prospects back into the fold. Here are some numbers for you:

GFS - MaxTemps - Sunday GFS - MaxTemps - Monday GFS - MaxTemps - Tuesday

The good news is that heat like that will eventually encourage the afternoon pop-ups (remember: "mountains first"). The question continues to be just how long it takes before you actually get some in your neighborhood.
