Still a few storms on the menu today

Posted: Wed 1:55 AM, Jul 25, 2012

We'll be tracking more storms today, but the main threats will be the possibility for flooding in areas already hit by repeated downpours from yesterday. The heat will also figure prominently over the next few days.

Just a quick update on this Wednesday morning.

A very active weather pattern yesterday settles down a bit, but we're going to be tracking a few more storms today too. Unfortunately, some of them are going to be right over areas that already received plenty of rain yesterday. We'll have to watch this in case there's some local street flooding and such. Here's a look at the NAM models:

NAM - Wednesday AM NAM - Wednesday PM

You can cross-reference these with the Doppler estimated totals on the maps below. It's not going to be an issue for all of us, primarily for folks along and just to the west of the Big Sandy and Tug Fork rivers.

It won't take long for the heat to figure prominently in the forecast either. Particularly on Thursday, we'll be talking about mid-90s with high humidity-- good enough for a heat advisory no less.

Following that, we'll have another front approaching with its own brand of thunderstorms and evil intent. Say it ain't so, but we'll have to watch that one too!
