(11/17 Update) - Stubborn High Pressue Holds Sway Over Everything

Anyone complaining?

Update (11/17) - Just a quick update this morning. The weather pattern has not changed much (as certainly indicated below), so it's a perfect time to work on another installment of my winter weather seasonal forecasting series.

High pressure is still overhead, and there still aren't any big threats of rain from here through Thanksgiving (a tiny ripple Tuesday night, but that's not a travel impactor).

HPC - Projected Rainfall - Through Tuesday

No trouble for the football games today, that's for sure!

 Welcome to Friday :-)

Not long now before we can get our weekend going, and the weather is going to be fairly accommodating. It won't be with "sunny and 70", but we've been getting used to our 30s to 50s (if that's possible). One thing that we've also been trying to get used to is the streak of "boring" weather around here lately, courtesy of a few chained areas of high pressure.

HPC - Surface Map - Friday PM

We're going to be seeing a lot more where this comes from-- not a lot of moisture around here.

GFS - Saturday PM GFS - Sunday PM GFS - Thursday PM

The "High Pressure Highway" brings those big H's up through the Ohio Valley and continues them up into Southern Canada. It is useful for generating (and then blocking) coastal storm systems, but for our purposes it doesn't end up to be much more than partly cloudy skies. Our best shot for any showers will be overnight Tuesday, but even then there doesn't seem to be too much going on.

Borrrrring! ;-)
