Happy Wednesday everyone... Half-way home!
Here's today's weather in a nutshell...
Essentially the weather map remains unchanged from yesterday, so the persistent fetch of steamy hot air from the deep south is going to inch us up from our high temperatures yesterday (low 90s for both Huntington and Charleston). Here's what the GFS is spitting out for digits:
|GFS - MaxTemps - Wednesday||GFS - MaxTemps - Thursday||GFS - MaxTemps - Friday|
Notice the difference on Friday though-- a bit of relief. This relief actually comes in on Thursday, later in the afternoon once the high temperatures for the day have set off some afternoon storms. A weak cold front will advance from the west, but given our mass of instability overhead it will be good for some storms. Here's what the models are showing:
|GFS - Thursday PM||WRF - Thursday PM|
It's nice to see a little consensus building for not only showers and storms, but a slightly cooler weekend. However, we don't cool down toward normal-ish numbers until we get into next week, courtesy of a strong system that passes by well to our north.
|GFS - Monday AM|
A nice shot of Canadian air. We're not going to return to March or anything, but if we can get a few nights without having to use the air conditioner I'll take it!
