Tracking the Snow & the Arctic Blast

A quick update on the snow heading our way and the extremely cold air to follow.

Rain has moved into our region on this Sunday evening with temperatures remaining in the 50's. With the cold front pushing further eastward through our region, we will see the rain to snow transition around 1-2 AM for the river cities. The western extents of the tri-state area will see the transition closer to midnight. This is what the First Warning Weather team expects for snowfall totals into tomorrow...


In reality, snow isn't the biggest story with this system. However, it will be enough snow to make travel conditions difficult tomorrow morning and even throughout the day. Thus, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for all counties...


With wind gusts up to 30 MPH expected, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some blowing snow. This, in addition to falling snow, will have an impact on visibilities early tomorrow morning.

The bigger impact this system will have is on our temperatures. In fact, a Wind Chill Warning has been issued for all counties tomorrow into Tuesday...


The actual thermometer will read -5 to -10 degrees; however, it will feel like -20 to -30 degrees. As the models show, this is the coldest air on the continent heading our way...
