Updated: 1:35 AM A weak are of high pressure grazes the area from the north, giving us seasonable temperatures and time to dry out. It may not be a clean sweep though, as clouds continue to try to hang on.
Updated: 11:53 AM The potential exists today for isolated storms that go 'severe', but there's a larger threat for flash flooding over an already well-saturated ground. Check back for updates.
Posted: 7:43 AM Today's storms will be off and on during the day, and have the potential for spot flooding in those downpours. Sunday features the possibility for severe weather.
Updated: 3:47 PM We're back to full sunshine for everyone, this time without the threat of storms, but that is little consolation for folks that work outside all day. Expect highs near or beyond 90 for a few days in a row.
Updated: 8:36 PM Leftover showers still around today, but the story will eventually change into some early August sunshine and returning heat. Get ready for some days in the 90s before afternoon storms return during the weekend.
Updated: 3:51 AM In a general summer "blah" weather pattern, we'll be tracking a few showers and storms today. Expect them to be here and gone so that the first days of August get back to sunshine and highs near 90.
Updated: 9:35 PM There are showers approaching today, but a little good weather to continue to start the day. July is making a run at the 8" mark for rainfall-- quite a feat in an otherwise dry several months.
Updated: 2:34 PM After a run of risks over the past several days, it'll be good to get back to a time where we don't have a "watch" of some sort in our future. This weekend may be just that time.
Updated: 5:48 PM Another hot, humid July day will load a lot of energy into the mix, so that later in the evening a line of storms will develop in the Ohio Valley. This is (again) one to watch, as the "D-word" (derecho) is again being floated about.
Posted: 1:55 AM We'll be tracking more storms today, but the main threats will be the possibility for flooding in areas already hit by repeated downpours from yesterday. The heat will also figure prominently over the next few days.
Updated: 12:45 PM Like so many other times this summer, we have another NW-to-SE setup where strong thunderstorms will be coming down the road near the Great Lakes toward the tri-state. Fortunately we can keep an eye on them as they move.
Updated: 5:11 PM July continues to behave like July, though we're already in a surplus of rainfall for the month at all climate stations-- not that that's a problem (we're still down for the year and in marginal drought conditions)
Updated: 6:41 AM Showers and storms are now largely behind us. Time for some R-n-R. The only questions are: how long till the Sun shines bright, and how long can it stick around...
Updated: 4:06 PM We continue to follow our storm front as it sags south/east through our region. More moisture-rich showers and storms will develop, but the timing focus the worst of the weather to our east.
Updated: 1:31 PM As a front slowly sags into our region, we're going to get an extra tweak of forcing to set of storms. Given the instability that has persisted in the area, this will result in more storm tracking chores for the day.
Updated: 11:02 AM Summer continues its mid-season form. Scattered showers and storms today, but more will arrive Wednesday night into Thursday. Much needed rainfall for the tri-state area comes in patchy bunches.
Posted: 10:13 AM Not as much storm coverage today, but there will be some. Expect an increasing amount of storms through to mid-week where the pattern finally makes a change.
Updated: 6:23 AM Expect more rounds of showers and storms to pop up today, but not with the same widespread nature as yesterday. They will mainly focus on the afternoon, with several decent hours of the day for outdoor activities.
Updated: 6:57 PM High pressure continues to exert its influence over the northern Ohio Valley, and another one flexes muscle off the Carolina coast. Our stalled out boundary continues to flounder in the south, which sets up the opportunity for quite a diverse weather experience from one place to the next.
Updated: 5:48 PM Now that our temperatures have returned to normal there's one more element to our weather still out of whack: Precipitation. Many areas have a deficit of several inches going into this week-- something about which the current forecast has a lot to say.
Updated: 4:30 PM Today is the day: Our heat wave breaks later this evening after 11 long days. The only problem is that the road from A to B can be a stormy one.
