Blogger's Block!

To blog or not to blog, that is indeed the question for me!  So, three months ago, I asked for my very own blog.  It just seemed like the cool thing to do!  Heck, everyone else had one!  So, I got one too and it was sweetly called, “Carrie’s Corner”.  Right off the bat, I did a blog about my 4-part series, called “Dying for Drugs” and another sort of behind-the-scenes blog about the Portsmouth school shooting.

Then, came the blogger’s block!  I was stumped!  I had no idea what to blog about and the pressure was horrendous!  Here, Jessica has this great blog about the cool, single, hip woman lifestyle and has cute entries on everything about her weight loss to her dog.  Then, Penny has the best stories on motherhood.  Who could top those?  Of course, Tony is the smartest man in the world when it comes to weather (wouldn’t dare try to compete with that) and then there’s little ole me.  What do I have to blog about and why on earth did I ask for a blog???

Truth be told, it’s not a lack of interesting topics to blog about, but too many.  There’s so much going on in my head, I can’t seem to narrow it all down.  I’m always thinking about great blogging topics, but apparently none of it is making it to print because I recently received this email from our webman:

Carrie,

Your blog has been removed from the blog page due to no new postings.  A blog hasn’t been posted since 2/8.  Please let me know when you post a new one and I’ll re-add it to our site.

Thanks,

Mike

No, thank YOU Mike!  What a blow!  So, I guess it’s either blog or get off the site!  So, here I am blogging about nothing trying to find my niche.  What I really want to blog about would probably get me into some hot water like who I think should be President of the United States and why.  I’ve read the comments on our website in regards to the various presidential candidates and I can tell you our viewers aren’t ready for my opinion!!!  I would also LOVE to talk about race in our region and the current state of affairs.  Again, not a popular topic around here.  Then, there’s MY dog, Braxton.  Now, I have to be honest, I’m not the biggest dog lover, although I did pick out the dog (he’s a purebred West Highland Terrier) and we paid good money for him.  He’s absolutely adorable—really one of the cutest dogs you’ll ever see.  But, he’s turned out to be more of my husband’s best buddy than mine.  Maybe I’d like him more if I could just understand him!  … hmmm, maybe THAT’S the subject of my next blog!!!  Really, the things I go through with him are UNREAL!

Wow!  Blogger’s block lifted!  Thank goodness!

Stay tuned…

Peace, love and joy!

Carrie

Posted by: Renith Carrie, I enjoy watching you and hearing your stories. Keep up the good work. I also ;remember you had a thyroid problem and had surgery and you look great. My daughter was started on synthroid but we are not having much luck. Her goiter is slowly going down. I am worried about her because she has gained so much weight and it took us forever to get her doctor to listen. I am wondering if we need a second opinion. Would you please share the name and phone number of the physician you saw and your story regarding your thyroid problem with me again; because if I remember correctly my daughter is having some of the same symptoms you described. I would be forever greatful.

Posted by: Max I say go for it Carrie. Do a blog on who you think should be president? People can always leave comments on whether or not they agree or disagree with you. To my knowledge, I've never heard anyone at WSAZ say who they were supporting. It may turn out kind of interesting on who you support and why.

Posted by: lori i just watched the story of the person that got away from the cop in the court house and the comment the guy made. becacuse people don't go to church are they bad well i want himto know i don't go to church on sunday and i am not a bad person i don't break the law i don't run from cops and what he said wasn't right i know people who go to church and have very bad back ground and run from the cops so if not going to church makes you a bad person what are the people that go to church and still break the law.

Posted by: Julie While I feel that being a volunteer firefighter and EMT is important and worthy of thanks, I felt very uncomfortable with the story of the Ceredo firefighter being honored after his death. He was honored for his service, but due to his negligence he killed another person. He was speeding without regard to the weather and ended up killing himself and another person. He is being honored after killing someone while driving. There is never a mention of the person who was killed who was engaged and the father of an infant. Where is the justice in this??

Posted by: Kathy Carrie You are great reporter , and you should have many things to blog about. LOL . 1. If you could make a difference in somebody's life how would you & why? 2. What does it mean to you to be a reporter ? Blog about yourself & special things in your life . Give us feedback on the stories you do , everyone likes to read about the outcome of things, just a little follow up.

Posted by: lue WSAZ IS VERY UNDERSTANDING AND NOT SO BORING. YOU CAN MAKE IT EASY FOR THE KIDS TO UNDERSTAND THE NOISE UNLIKE THE OTHER CHANNELS CArrie your my favorite news person thanks for reading -Lue Evans

Posted by: Stacy Glad you're back Carrie! We've missed you. I think you're a great reporter. One of the kindess, most compassionate. (Right along with Penny, she's a great one too). Anyway, glad to have you back!

Posted by: Brenda We all search for our niche, in blogging and in life. Blogs don't necessarily have to be deep. Just say what's on your mind. :)

Posted by: Sue It's ok to write about hot button topics. Just remember that there are going to be people who disagree. And I think the moderating on the blog needs to watched careful. There is nothing more annoying than "You are stupid because you disagree with me." One nasty trend I am seeing on WSAZ is the penchant for personal attacks. Just because one person doesn't have the same opinions as another doesn't make one party any less right than the other.

Posted by: Blog Blocker Bloggers block is such a pain! I totally understand. Just write about blogging, or an obvious story (i.e. gas prices or politics) until the block goes away. Good luck with that! :-)

Posted by: Captain Pancake Carrie, it is good to have you back. Coincidentally, my wife left me the same day you wrote your last blog. I'm hoping your writing a new blog is a sign that my wife might come back! Let's keep our fingers crossed.
