Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by to check out what's going on in my weather world. The weather pattern across the tri-state has a couple of star attractions over the next week. Dolly and the heat will take center stage into the last days of July into the start of August.

Let's start with Dolly's leftovers. This little system over the plains states is what is left of the once powerful hurricane. It is still producing showers and storms as it marches eastward and will combine with a cold front to produce some decent shower and storm chances around here. The prime time for some heavy rain producing thunderstorms looks to be Wednesday night into Thursday. Since the air will have a tropical feel... locally heavy rains are a good bet in parts of our region.

It looks like our first brush with some scattered showers and storms will come later in the day Wednesday. I don't think we get great coverage on the daytime stuff, though. High temps will reach the upper 80s with a 90 a good bet if you get enough sun where you are.

Once we get the front to clear the area later Thursday... all eyes in the weather world will turn toward a developing heat ridge in the plains that looks to flex it's muscles. I think this has a good shot at giving us the hottest temps of the summer for early next week when mid 90s look like a strong possibility. 100 degree heat could be lurking not to far to our west and southwest during this time. I don't think we have to worry about that... but it will be plenty hot regardless as heat index values may head toward the century mark. Monday and Tuesday should see the hottest temps of the latest heat wave.

I do want to mention the chance for a little complex of storms to fire up to our northwest on Saturday. With the mean flow setting up from that direction... there is a chance we could see something dive southeastward toward us before the heat gets in.  I am seeing a few computer forecast models hinting at this so we will keep an eye on it over the coming days.

So, there you have it. Some tropical moisture and hot weather. That's not exactly breaking news as we head into the month of August now is it?!

I will have another update later Wednesday. Until then... take care.
