Good Sunday to one and all. It's retro day on the blog as we take you back to a few decades to celebrate the wonderful 70s! Temps will certainly be all about going retro over the next few days with readings in the low 70s likely Sunday into Monday. Before we get to the actual weather... let's take a stroll back to the days of bell bottoms and polyester...

Ok Ok... that's enough of the 70s. Feel free to chime in with your 1970s thoughts... that is for those of you who were around back then!

To the weather we go...

The local weather is straight forward the next few days with readings in the low 70s. I think you have gotten the idea of that already. All eyes from the national weather world will be on Ida down in the Gulf of Mexico. Ida will become a Hurricane and is a real threat to make landfall sometime over the next few days. Here is the latest from the National Hurricane Center...

[Image of 5-day forecast and coastal areas under a warning or a watch]

The models have been split on whether to take this storm ashore or let it meander around in the Gulf this week. Given the overall setup... I am becoming more of a fan of this thing making landfall instead of just wondering around. It is a very complicated setup in the gulf as we have a storm system that is ahead of Ida. You can see what I am talking about here...

The interaction between these two will be fun to watch over the next 24 hours and I suspect once this works itself out... the models will all get on the same page.

The actual impact on our weather is still not known... but my gut tells me we will see some moisture from all this mess before it's said and done by the middle of the week.  It will make for some fun following the next few days.

Coming up Monday... I will be taking a look at some winter thoughts and showing you guys some new data I am looking at. You guys have to be stoked for that!!!!

Have a great Sunday everyone and I leave you with this thought...

Take care.

Posted by: Darryll I love the '70s! I have a Google Alerts set up for the '70s so I got a link to this! I appreciate your humor and willingness to have fun! Just to throw something fun in for those who loved the '70s... I wrote a book. you can check it out here if you're interested. http://www.my70sbook.com. Long live the '70s! :)

Posted by: Greg Some of the other pro forecasters on the E coast seem to be leaning toward a colder than normal winter around here, but the stength of the El Nino in the Pacific seems to be getting stronger, which may not be a good sign for a cold 70's style winter. Of course, many factors come into play each winter. However, if the Summer weather pattern holds into Winter I think it could be a Winter to remember. Look forward to your Winter forecast.
