The heaviest rains today will come into the early afternoon hours before things become much lighter and more scattered. You can follow all the action here on 3D Doppler Radar...

All of this water will be flowing into area rivers... incuding the Ohio River. This will cause rapid rises this weekend into early next week with river flooding likely becoming a problem. If you have interest along the Ohio... please keep an eye on the latest river forecasts. I will have more on this coming later today and through the weekend.

Help out your fellow bloggers and your friendly weather dude by posting the weather from where you live. That is especially true if you are experiencing any flooding problems.

I will update as needed so make sure to check back. Take care.

Rita- the National Guard is expanding because it is being ordered to by the government. All bases must meet size requirements. Have been buying out houses and property for well over a decade around there. Has been a slow process. Will be better when all is said and done! A new bridge is going to be built. All the protests won't stop it from happening. Change is hard to adapt to, but they are trying their best to satisfy everyone to some extent. Know it is upsetting people, but that's just the way it has to be.

Mud River in Hamlin near the Lion's Club field is high; about 1-1.5 feet from the road. Gets this way many times per year though. If it would have rained for a few more hours, it would have covered the road.

For Nanners: My parents live in Summers County WV. They tried to get to Beckley this morning and were turned around due to high water. The interstate route to Hinton is fine but if getting off the interstate at Beaver to get to Hinton it will be blocked. Greenbrier river is high and on the road in places but I don't know of any closures in Hinton at the moment. Just past Beaver and around White Oak.

It poured the rain all night and when I woke up the creek had spilled its banks. I've not seen the water this high in a long time.

You should bring a tv crew down to Keystone Drive and show everyone what Yeager & Air Nat'l Guard EXPANSION is doing to people that live on this street. Before long, "Airport Hill" will be ON this street. Drive in from Greenbrier St.

It rained pretty hard around 7 yesteday evening and alot of high wind. after we went to bed could hear the rain but didnt seem as bad. The power went off sometime during the night. We all slept in this morning and was woke up at 6:30 AM with the printer kicking on when the power came back on. Not sure how long the power was out. Today is my brothers wedding so hope the rain subsides this aftenoon.

Poured the rain all night here in Belle WV. It has slacked off a little but still coming down steady. Last night we had a few rumbles of thunder and lightning and we had one thunder boom that literally shook the house!
