Good Friday to one and all. We have come to the end of another active week of weather across the region. The past week has been fairly wild with everything from severe thunderstorms to ice. This winter stinks for snow lovers… but it sure isn’t lacking in the interesting weather department.

Colder air is filtering into the region today as our big rain maker works to our northeast. The air may be just cold enough for a little bit of rain and snow mix early today for a few areas. Temps should fall into the upper 30s and low 40s early and hold nearly steady all day long. Follow the precipitation ...

We have a couple of fast-moving systems set to impact our weather this weekend. The first arrives on the scene early Saturday with gusty winds and a line of rain and snow showers zipping through. There could be a touch of some sleet with this one. Here’s how the GFS sees this…

Temps will spike into the upper 30s ahead of this fast-moving front and then drop a few degrees once it swings through here.

Another fast mover will be inbound on Sunday and will bring more gusty winds and a few snow showers and flurries. The best chance to pick up a small accumulation would be across the north… especially later in the day. The GFS shows this region as being closest to the main shield of light snow…

We will see temps begin to mild up for the first half of next week with 50s likely again by Tuesday. This will be ahead of another system that works in with some rain for the middle of the week.

The end of next week is showing some signs of trying to get a storm going across the east. The GFS has been locked onto this for a few days now…

The European Model has something similar trying to cut off around here into next weekend…

Yes, I know how this winter is going and how the chance of that actually working out in our favor is low. I get it… but this is a weather blog and looking ahead is what we do. :)

Have a great Friday and take care.

good friday evening from the town of wayne and welcome to the long awaited weekend. currently the sky is mostly cloudy with a temp of 43 after a high today which occurred at midnight last night at 58 and so far the low has been 42. it could go lower, depending on what the temp does the next 5 hours or so with it being at 43 at 7pm as of this writing. the hyped up rain storm that we expeienced yesterday and last night never met expectations here in the local area due to the fact only about 1/3 of an inch fell, total. looks as though a ho hum weekend, weather wise with a little rain and snow for sat. and then plain ole snow flurries and snow showers that may coat the ground late sunday into sunday night. models are advertising a big time cool down starting next weekend with plenty of snow chances, in fact we may be looking at the coldest weather of the season starting next weekend continuing for the next 2 to 3 weeks. snow on easter? how about mothers day? thanks for reading.

I'm a snow lover... one "snow day" this year in my KY district. Our last day is scheduled for May 11th. I've decided I want no snow this year. Heck of summer vacation before I start college!

Good late morning everyone! It is a dreary chilly day here in our valley. The temperature is 41 degrees with moderate breezes. A light drizzle is falling making it feel worse than it is. We had very hard rain during the night, it woke me up, however the river is not up and that is a blessing. Have a good and safe Friday everyone!

Couldn't we get enough people to pitch in and have some snow trucked in to a big park - maybe try to make it look legit?

I grew up in Northwest Indiana about a stone's throw from Chicago and I got used to seeing decent snowfall every winter growing up. I moved down to this area in December of 2001 and within two weeks of my arrival, we got 10 inches one Friday night! That has been the biggest snowfall I have seen here in just over 10 years of living here. I thought this winter would be a real doozie after reading Chris's weather blog back in the fall about how the models were shaping up, but so far no dice. I know we received more snow around here the past two winters than normal, but I would love to see us have one winter where we really get blasted a good time or two, just like when I was a kid in Indiana. Last year was the biggest tease because Chris' weather blog showed that blizzard that shut down Lake Shore Drive in Chicago hitting us just the day before, just to see it travel west and north of us, leaving us with thunderstorms! Come on Chris, just give us one good snowfall this winter - please!
