Good Saturday and welcome to the final weekend of February. March is just around the corner and our weather has certainly been rather March-like for a while, now. It’s an active pattern that looks to continue as we usher in the first month of meteorological spring.
Our weekend is off and running on a cold note across the area. High temps will stay in the 30s with a few flurries and snow showers. Some of these snow showers will cause some slick travel and put down light accumulations. The mountains will, as usual, do the best.
The cold air won’t last long as our temps begin to take off Sunday and Monday. Here’s where the NAM takes your thermometer…
60s should be common for Monday and Tuesday as gusty southwesterly winds pick up. This is ahead of our next big storm that takes shape across the plains states and heads into the Great Lakes by the middle of the week. This one continues to have the look of a possible severe weather maker around here.
You can see the widespread showers and thunderstorm action showing up on the GFS…
We’ll keep an eye on that system and one coming in behind it for next weekend.
Have a great Saturday and take care.
