I'd like to formally accept the award for "World's Biggest Slacker."

In my last blog I talked about accountability. Then I failed miserably.

I haven't been blogging at all... or running enough. I'm supposed to be doing hard-core training for this Princess Half-Marathon at Disney but I have been lazy with a capital L. My partner in crime, Jennifer, has also been struggling a bit. She lives in Ohio so we e-mail or call with updates about the running that we AREN'T doing. UGH!

The last time I ran was about 2 weeks ago. I did more than 6 miles and felt great. Then it got cold outside and I found it much easier to snuggle on the couch than get up and run.

Now, the race is a week and a half-away and I could kick myself for getting so far off-track. Feeling an immense amount of guilt, I actually took a lunch break tonight and ran 4 miles.

It was hard. The cold air burned through my lungs and I was afraid I wouldn't make it.  When all was said and done though I felt so much better. I need to be in reasonable shape for the race. It's in a week and a half. Panic is setting in. Believe me 13.1 miles is no easy task.

The diet also fell by the wayside. I stopped bringing my dinner to work and started to hit the drive-thru. I rarely munch down on fries or anything like that.  I try to make healthy choices when it comes to fast food but I still managed to do some damage.

I think my low point was last Friday night. I ordered a pizza for the newsroom. We don't eat pizza often and when I do order it I make it's as healthy as possible. Thin crust, very light on the cheese, loaded up with veggies and grilled chicken. Friday I ordered a "real" pizza. Fat crust, mozarella and all. I felt SO guilty the next morning.

As I'm writing this I'm munching on some baby carrots and everyone in the newsroom is talking about what veggies they like or don't like. Most seem to only get them down if they are dipped in Ranch dressing. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed some full-fat Ranch.

Sacrifices. We have to make them to meet goals. It's not fun but hopefully it's worth it in the long run. Literally, the long run. Tacos and burgers aren't going to help me cross that finish line... so I have to keep my focus.

I've made a solemn vow to myself that I won't fall off the bandwagon again. How can I? Bathing suit season is also around the corner... or as I like to call it... the most embarrassing time of the year (:

Take care.

Jessica
