Team WSAZ\myZ is gearing up for the 2009 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  It's set for Saturday, May 2nd at the Capitol in Charleston.

We had a great group last year and are back bigger, better and stronger than ever before. Since breast cancer is an issue that hits so close to home, we are fighting hard to reach a serious fundraising goal this year.

If you can't walk or run in the race that day you can still show your support. We're teaming up with McDonald's in Nitro Tuesday, April 14th. We'll be there raising money from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and 10% of proceeds will go to help our cause.

So please stop by, grab some dinner and help us battle breast cancer. You'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't have a friend, family member or co-worker who has been touched by this horrible disease.

You can also get involved by volunteering to help out on race day or just by making a donation.

This year we are putting technology to the test. a few weeks ago I posted a link on Twitter to my fundraising page and was shocked to see people ready and willing to donate.

So now, I'm going to put the power of the blog to the test. I know times are tough but let's see if we can raise some money. Remember hat every dollar makes a difference. Here's how you can get involved:

Follow This Link to visit my personal page and help our team efforts to support Susan G. Komen - West Virginia Affiliate

If you donate please post a comment below and let us know. If you want to share any personal experiences with breast cancer please feel free to tell your story. I'd love to see how much money we can raise and how many stories we can share through the blog alone.

Thanks SO MUCH for any help you can give!

Jessica

*****UPDATE: We just got back from the fundraiser at the Nitro McDonald's. THANK YOU to Will Jones, Jeff Sadler, Mayor Rusty Casto and McDonald's for the support. We brought in $200 from food sales and $100 from generous donations in the drive-thru! THANK YOU NITRO!

*****UPDATE 2: We are still $400 away from reaching our goal. This is the last week to donate and get involved.

Posted by: Tri-State How did it go, Jess??? Thanks for your contribution to this worthy cause!

Posted by: Michael I think I saw you in the race. I was walking with my wife and 2 daughters. You had a ball cap pulled down low and a WSAZ t-shirt on. You were with a guy with a WSAZ shirt on also. Was that you?

Posted by: Dirt McGurt direct tv doesn't get MyZ because its a contractual thing. Phil adjusting your antenna depends on where you live. There are different towers for 3, 13, 8 and 11. So it depends if you are living in direct line for all three or in the middle where they would be different directions. If thats the case Jessica isn't on 13 so you need to point towards Milton.

Posted by: jon jacobs I am going to donate! I think Jess should set up a kissing booth and charge $100 per kiss.......Dude, I would so pay for that!!! lol

Posted by: phil been trying to adjust ant to get 3 8 13 11 get one or the other inwhich direction really need to go ?? oh and you said on news cast saturday night at 11 that you havent never been ask the big question hmm someone is missing out hmm how about dinner

Posted by: rebecca Thank you so very much for the support to this 100% volunteer program that provides state wide support for breast health- you are making the difference- we could not do it without you and all these great ideas and new technologies. How fun to see what a difference positive communication makes. And a big shout out to McDonalds of Nitro, Will Jones, Jeff Sadler, Mayor Rusty Casto and everyone that supported the cause with purchase power. Every step gets us closer to a cure and a world with out breast cancer. Thank You
