It goes far beyond getting along at work and being friends. I was reminded of this on Saturday when our team came together for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Charleston. Team WSAZ\myZ ended up in the top 10 for fund raising out of 200 teams and we had the smallest number of team members. It made me proud beyond words that everyone came together and worked so hard to raise money for such a worthy cause.
We also tied with another team for the "Best Team Spirit" award. We did a LOT of cheering and hugging (and a bit of crying) on Saturday. Penny Moss served as the host and was there at the crack of dawn. She spent several hours on the microphone keeping everyone inspired and excited.
When we finished with the race we waited at the finish line to hang medals around the "survivors"necks as they crossed. This is always my favorite part of the race and it's emotional... to say the very least.
Some of the women cry and others smile but you can see that they are all proud that they made it. There is nothing better than to see their faces when they reach the end of the race. One of our managers, Grover Tadlock, raced in a wheelchair in honor of his mother. It was amazing to see him do something so brave and so personal. I know it meant a lot to him. It meant a lot to all of us.
Words can't express how I felt when I saw all these people I work with really put their heart and soul into such a great event. Everyone talked about what how they were moved by it and they were so grateful to have been a part of the bigger picture. It served as a true reminder that it only takes a little to make a difference that means a lot.

The one thing I can always tell people when they ask me about what it like to work at WSAZ is that I work with some of the nicest, most caring people around.
