A First Look At A Possible Hurricane

It is too far out to give this forecast with complete confidence, but here is a look at the potential for a Hurricane/tropical storm next week...

While we are being affected by a very tropical pattern locally, the First Warning Weather team is keeping monitoring a disturbance well out into the Atlantic. This disturbance will likely bring strong thunderstorm-like conditions into the Virgin Islands by Thursay night. The question is, how will our forecast be affected?

It is too far out to pin-point exactly what will occur; but, the models are already picking up on this feature. Here is a look at the model outlooks...

Both the GEM and the EURO keep the feature well off the coast. As a result, we will be left in a relatively dry and warm pattern. On the other hand, the GFS outlook (bottom panel), shows the best potential for a strong tropical storm to ride up the Florida coast and travel over land up the east coast. This would bring a potential for heavy rainfall in our area, and likely widespread flooding issues.

Keep tuned the next couple days for updates on this potential...
