A Winter Feel Tonight, But Spring Will Soon Return

Another frosty cold evening is in store for us, but a warm up is expected to make conditions more "Spring" like as we approach the weekend.

It was a sunny and clear afternoon today, with a high pressure system influencing our conditions. These sunny skies allowed afternoon temperatures to pull into the 50s, after a cold morning in the 20s. However, these clear skies will not work in our favor tonight...

Low temperatures will likely drop below freezing, with conditions ideal for radiational cooling (a process in which warmth is released overnight). The lack of cloud coverage will allow any warmth that the ground received from the afternoon sun to be readily released into the atmosphere. Furthermore, light winds will prevent any mixing of the cold air with warm air elsewhere.

Despite another cold start to the day, southerly winds will bring a warm up for tomorrow, with afternoon highs approaching 70°! For the next couple of days, conditions will remain seasonal, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. However, weak cold fronts will bring a chance of spotty showers Friday night and Monday/Tuesday...

Luckily, these shower chances will steer clear of the weekend, allowing for great Easter egg hunting conditions. Easter Sunday will see highs near 68°, with beautiful mostly sunny skies. However, this isn't the case for our friends down in Myrtle Beach...

Widespread showers will be likely down that way with a passing low pressure system skirting the southeast coast.

Enjoy the warm up!
