An Up and Down Pattern Through Next Week

After a warm and stormy Tuesday afternoon, a fall-like quiet pattern is heading our way. I'll break it down, and show you why it's not expected to stick around too long.

A line of strong storms brought heavy showers and caused a mess on the roadways as children were heading home from school Tuesday afternoon. However, this disruption was affiliated with a cold front which will help to filter cooler air into the region.

Here's a look at the changing pattern over the next few days...

We go from the orange-yellow color scheme, to a green color scheme heading into Wednesday and Thursday (indicating a cool down). Notice how there is a trough in the upper levels (or a dip in the contour lines) which helps to pull this cooler air from the north into our region, along with a northwest wind. The winds become more westerly into Thursday, which hints at a temperature recovery heading our way. ..

Conditions will quickly warm up into the weekend and next week. Here's a look...

The upper panel shows a southwest flow which will pull those warmer temperatures into the area, with those orange colors translating to highs in the mid 80s over the weekend. Upper 80s will be likely next week, but with rising humidity, it is going to feel even hotter!

Have a great day!
