Latest Outlook for Memorial Day Weekend

After seeing strong storms rip through the region last night, many of us are wondering what the weather has in store for us this holiday weekend...

The unofficial start of summer is approaching- Memorial Day!  Last year on this holiday, we saw some rainfall. With many celebrations taking place outdoors, we are all hoping that this years Memorial Day stays dry and pleasant...

Below is a look at the forecast for temperatures at the 850 mb for Friday through Sunday. Notice how the Friday panel shows temperatures dropping near 8°C, which at the surface would be between 70-75°F. This is several degrees cooler than the 80s we saw today and is also a degree or two below normal. By Saturday, temperatures will warm slightly but still sit in the mid to upper 70s. Finally, by Sunday afternoon, the 80s returns to our region (with temperatures at the 850mb level reaching up to 18°C).

By Monday, temperatures are looking to become summer-like. Notice how the panel below shows temperatures at the 850 mb level  reaching around 18°C, with temperatures at the surface around 86°F. In addition to the warmth, we are also expecting conditions to be dry and sunny. However, hints of rain will show up to our west late Monday night (second panel below).  Luckily though, these showers are not expected to approach our area until after 2 AM Tuesday morning (third panel below).

Have a good evening!
