Monday Update On Snow

Details with the snowfall forecast tonight and the outlook for the next few days.

As we settle into a colder pattern this week, another brush of snow is expected tonight. The models are expecting the snowfall to be light, with the bulk of the snowfall staying north of our region…

Both the NAM and the GFS show the main brush of snow from the northern extents of our region (such as Athens, Ohio) north, into central Ohio and far northern West Virginia. Despite this outlook, I have extended the chance of snow further southward into areas along I-64 because of some promising upper level dynamics which will be overhead early tomorrow morning.

I expect our northern extents to see near an inch (with the mountains seeing over an inch). A line from Portsmouth, Ohio to Spencer, WV will likely see a coating, with areas along I-64 seeing a possible dusting. Further south, a flurry or two at most is expected.

The pattern is looking cold for the mid-week, with a piece of the polar vortex approaching to our north. Regional highs in the upper 20s are expected Wenesday....

Have a good evening!
