Severe Weather Chances And Another Fall Preview

A stormy Sunday outlook brings the potential for severe weather in our region. As things settle down into next week, we'll see highs in the 70s once again!

Many of us enjoyed the weather conditions today, with low humidity and highs near 80. But, don't get too comfortable! We are expecting a real taste of summer for tomorrow, with highs reaching near 90 and humidity spiking into the afternoon. This is ahead of a storm system that will eventually bring us a cool down for next week. Take a look at the difference in temperatures tomorrow and Tuesday (top and bottom respectively)...

You can even see with the Saturday panel (top) the circulation of the storm system up by Minnesota which will help to pull those cooler temperatures into the area for Tuesday. Expect Tuesday's highs to sit in the mid to upper 70s!

Of course, with this big variation in temperature heading our way, as we go from 90 Saturday to 76 Tuesday, we are bound to see some storms pop-up. Ahead of the approaching cold front, storms will likely develop Saturday evening, especially in our S. Ohio counties. Below is the Storm Prediction Center outlook for that day...

Most of the strong storms will stay just north of our region Saturday night, but things get more active as we head into Sunday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has our entire region under a severe possibility that day...

This is with the frontal passage, which will bring the greatest threat for strong damaging winds in our area. We could even see heavy rainfall and areas of hail.

At this point, it seems that there will be two main time frames for storm activity. One in the early morning, and again the late afternoon/evening. The lull in between these two time frames may allow for the sun to break out. Depending on the amount of sunlight we see, the second round of storms could bring a real punch. Here's a look at the NAM outlook...
