Warm Today, But Cold Is In Our Future

After seeing some of the coldest air we have seen in quite a while, above normal temperatures are set for today. Don't let this fool you! Cold air will return with the possibility of more snow.

After seeing temperatures topping out in the 30s yesterday, strong southwesterly winds are bringing us some relief today...

The top image shows this strong southwesterly flow in the upper levels, which is helping to filter warm southerly air into our region. The winds will become stronger in the upper levels, which will allow for breeze to mix down to the surface. A warm and breezy day should persist, with highs reaching into the lower 60s. The second image above shows a quick shot of rain which is expected in our region late tonight with a weak cold front passage.

A better shot of precipitation comes our way late Sunday night into Monday morning...

It seems that most of us will see a cold rain, but the chance of snow mixing in is a strong possibility in our northern counties. The extent of this snow line will of course depend on the strength of the colder air filtering  in during this time period. This is something that will have to be monitored over the next few days.

The middle of the work week brings yet another shot of precipitation...

The above Euro outlook shows a cold rain for Wednesday which will transition to snow Thursday with much colder air returning to our region.

Have a good weekend!
