Desperate Measures, Werewolf Style

Television news is a very competitive business. Five WSAZ part-timers, including myself, are getting ready to graduate from college, but NewsChannel 3 only has two full-time positions currently available.

Hopefully two of the five of us will get those positions. My four part-time colleagues are exceptionally hard workers and have strong character, so I’ve been doing my best to sabotage their work and make them look bad so that when the time comes, I will be in better standing with the employers.

Also, I’ve been trying to convince the others that this isn’t a very good place to live by telling them stories about violent werewolves lurking around the alleys of Huntington . Maybe the fear of the werewolves will drive them off, or better yet, perhaps there really are werewolves, and the wolves will get them.

However, should I end up seeking my destiny elsewhere, hopefully I’ll find something I have a real passion for. Sometimes I’ve contemplated volunteering in a developing country and helping people whose lives aren’t as fortunate as ours. It also might be fun to be a radio deejay.

Whatever I head into, I’ll be heading into as a bachelor. The woman I love has rejected my proposal, most likely because the blog I wrote about Strawberry Breakfast never became the Most Read Story on WSAZ.com, thanks to the super-popular “WSAZ’S ANNUAL UMBRELLA GIVEAWAY!” story, and the other nine more interesting stories. I guess the timing just wasn’t right.

Posted by: TomCat@NYC You should work for Jay Leno as a screen play writer!!!

Posted by: Wise one The rejection of your proposal could be one of the greatest things that's ever happened to you! Enjoy being single while you can!

Posted by: Jonathan Will, get a life! You don't have to read the blog if you don't like it. This blog isn't under "News", because it isn't news. It's a blog. You obviously are a miserable person, so rather than write rude comments, why not just keep it to yourself!

Posted by: Will Maybe if your blog wasn't so juvenile and unprofessional you would have a good chance of getting the job Andrew. I know you're trying to be funny, but it comes off as immature and stupid. This blog belongs on a private site, not a "professional" news site.

Posted by: Gilead Andrew, congratulations on your graduation! I hope no part of your degree is being awarded by WVU. Relax about your future. Let serendipity rule. Take a walk up Bridge Hollow, fish in the hole behind Mercey's old house and eat a quart of sour kraut. All is well-the Pope went home and there have been no more reports of campaign signs being shot.

Posted by: kassi Andrew you are hillarious!

Posted by: Rose Sorry she turned down your proposal. I'm glad to see if hasn't upset you too much. As fas as your career, have you looked at Adam Joseph's interview from "Where are they now"? You could end up with a dream job that takes you to the beach and pays you to do water sports. Wouldn't that be grand. Good Luck!

Posted by: Amy Your clever wit will take you far.

Posted by: Anonymous Although not exactly news, I find your blog refreshing, entertaining, and funny. Keep up the good work.

Posted by: Carol My Dear Andrew, So sorry the proposal didn't work out. I must say, your blogs are very interesting. The Herald Dispatch could use you there.

Posted by: Bertha I have a single friend with a steady income ...

Posted by: William If you don't mind a few stings, bee keeping can be a profitable and rewarding career to consider. The dreaded Varroa mite, however, has caused many anxious momments througout the honey industry in recent years. Nothing stays the same, they say.

Posted by: Blaze Good luck. After I graduated I had a difficult time finding work in the tv field in this area. Two years and no full time position, hope you land a position.

Posted by: Rhonda Congratulations on your graduation. I hope you get the job of your dreams.
