New parents are always so proud and excited when their baby has a "first". The first time the baby rolls on it's back, the first time the baby crawls, the baby's first tooth!
For the past year and a half, My Z Ten O'Clock news has been my baby. I'm the Executive Producer and have been with the Z since before it was "born."
So, I have to tell you that I really am proud of my "Z" baby. Over the weekend, the West Virginia Broadcaster's Association named "My Z Ten O'Clock News" as "Best Nightly Newscast" in West Virginia. We received some other top honors, but the My Z win is the one that really made my heart flutter.
When it comes to launching a newscast, there are always major ups and downs and plenty of struggles. We still aren't perfect and face challenges every day (like not being available on Dish Network). We've also seen other stations try to launch a new 10 p.m. newscast without success. So for the past 18 months, I've been a bit stressed worrying about the success of My Z.
But being recognized by the WVBA above the other long-established newscasts is really such an honor. I feel like my baby rolled over, crawled and cut her first tooth all at once. I am proud and grateful to all of the people who work their tails off each and every day to make our newscast come together.
Thanks to everyone!
Jessica
P.S. Do you think this whole baby thing is related to my constant cravings for chocolate?
