Like Elvis... Borek has left the building.

The revolving door in the TV business will never end. People come and go. Sometimes though, it hurts a little more to say goodbye. After several years of working with my favorite sidekick Todd "the Todder" Borek... he's leaving. Last night we said goodbye on My Z Ten O'Clock news.

Despite all the times I made fun of Todd, threatened physical violence and threw things at him in the weather center  (all in fun, I promise), I am truly sad that he is gone. We were good friends and he was a great all-around person. Todd is the kind of guy who never raises his voice, never has an unkind word to say about anyone and always has something positive to say (even in the worst situations).  We had fun working together and he always made me laugh.

The 10 o'clock news just will not be the same without him. I never knew what he was going to say or do and it kept me on my toes. So whoever comes along is going to have some big shoes to fill. I say that because Todd wears a size 12 shoe. Just kidding. However he has been wearing the same pair of boots for the past 14 years. That's so "Todd".

Even though he will be missed, I'm also very proud of him. He's very excited about his new job at our sister station in Lexington, KY and he's getting married in August. If you follow my blog, you'll remember that he's marrying our 11pm producer D'Arcy. She's also brought a lot of happiness and positive energy to our newsroom. She swept in here like a breath of fresh air and not only did she steal Todd's heart, but she stole ours too! So they are leaving to begin their journey through life together. We're losing 2 great friends, but they've gained each other and that makes it all worthwhile. Congratulations Todd and D'Arcy,  you will be missed.

Posted by: Lara Todd, things will never be the same without you there.I donot think this new guy will ever compare to the wonderful job you did.I wish you all the best of happiness on working in Lexington,Ky.I'm sure you will get used to it in no time at all.Again,I just wanted to say congratulations & best wishes to a wonderful person.I hope both of you are very, very happy together.

Posted by: Bruce Todd was good!I will miss him.Todd, you and your wife go and make the best life you can.I will always remember you as one of the best at WSAZ.Jessica,I miss him too.And I will miss you when you leave. It's OK,a lot of us would go if we only could.

Posted by: Marie I've been out of town for the month & I come back to no Todd. After reading the blogs to get caught up on what I've missed, it appears that WSAZ & WKYT are playing a switching game...we get Marina, they get Todd, we get this Chris Bailey. Jessica, you better NOT listen to ole D'Arcy Borek & be the next one to leave. You stay put right here in WV & if that station wants another person, send someone else, but not you. My granddaughter competes in equestrain events in Lexington, so it will be a pleasure watching a familiar face (Todd's, not your's) on the news when we are there.

Posted by: Willa Todd was a great weather man and we do miss him very much. We wish him the best with his new job and his wedding.

Posted by: Beth Well, I was on business in Lexington, and I watched Todd every morning. He even has a commercial featuring him and the morning crew talking about what a great city Lexington is. Yeah, it is, but some folks in WV are still going to miss the fun you brought to the news team.

Posted by: EastKY_wsaz_fan Jessica, You will love Chris Bailey. He was central Ky's Meteorologist, but now he's the Tri-State's. That makes it even better. He's eye opening and always on the ball. Everyone who has never seen Bailey do the weather, well, he's coming right at you! If you want to check him out now on a blog for his faithful central and eastern KY viewers, simply log on: kyweathercenter.com. Welcome him to WSAZ! Of course, he's promised the tri-state a blog as well. WOW! The man has courage and energy!

Posted by: D'Arcy Borek Hmm, I hadn't thought of it like a wife swap....but I guess Deborah's right. It's not going to go further than that though -- I plan to stick with my guy and I'm sure Chris Bailey's wife feels the same. Thank you for the sweet blog Jess -- the viewers will hate me for saying it, but I wish we could take you with us.

Posted by: Deborah Chris Bailey is coming from WKYT in Lexington. Kind of like "wife swap" only with meterologists.

Posted by: Jessica Ralston Irene, You're right. Laurabree is gone too. We really really miss her. Her husband works as a Meteorologist at a TV station in Charlotte and Laurabree just got a job at a TV station nearby in South Carolina. So, she's very excited to be able to live with her husband again! She was very sad about leaving West Virginia though. I keep looking over at her empty desk and missing her.

Posted by: Irene I also noticed Laurabree hasn't been on the news lately. Did she leave as well? I've been missing her evening reports. Todd - you'll be missed at 10 especially.

Posted by: Eric Wow, Todd was alot of fun to watch, I hope he enjoyed his time here and will enjoy his future as well!

Posted by: Carla I really enjoyed Todd Borek. He was my favorite. I was wondering why I haven't seen him the past few days, and I just saw a new "weather team" commercial and noticed he wasn't on it so I had to go to the website to see what was going on. Thanks, Jessica, for your blog telling us the news or some of us viewers may not have known. Todd, if you read this, you will be greatly missed. My husband I and I enjoyed watching you and wish you all the best in your career in Lexington but most of all wish you a very happy and blessed marriage. Congratulations and may God Bless You and your future bride always.

Posted by: James The two of you bantering back and forth was the reason I watched the show. You will be missed and tie Jessica to the chair so she won't leave.

Posted by: Debbie Good luck in wildcat country Todd, there's that picture of you guarding the donations with your life again. Oh and Dan, that wasn't very nice.

Posted by: Todd Borek Dang, that guy looks really cool Jessica! (I don't know why I can't take a normal picture). Yes, that's a double negative...it is also the only negative thing(s) I'll write on your blog Jessica. I can honestly say I looked forward to those 30 minutes you were trapped in the studio (aka weather lair *termed by me as, well, that's where the weather computers are located). For as much fun as I had working with you, I also had the utmost respect for what you did at work and how you carried yourself outside of it. I am truly touched about what you and Rob Johnson wrote about me. I'll miss trying to fill your head with useless science fiction film/any sport trivia. **BTW, my 10-eyelet Doc Martins are 18-years old and I wear a size 10 1/2.
