I thought it would be best if I waited a few days to chime in the controversy surrounding my beloved Brett Favre. The announcement that he wanted to get back in the game definitely threw me for a loop. I was very excited of course but there is a lot of drama surrounding his decision.
At first I thought "Of course Green Bay should take him back. HELLO. HE IS GREEN BAY!" Then, I thought about the other side of the story. I do realize that Favre decided to retire at the end of a long hard season. He was tired, battered and bruised and figured his time was up. A few months later though, he realized that for the first time in 30 years he wouldn't be playing football. So he wants back in.
But should the Packers accept him with open arms? Maybe not. He told them he wanted out and they moved on. I do think though, that he should be free to play for another team. Please note: I do not think that "other" team should be the Minnesota Vikings. Since my Dad's family is from Wisconsin I can tell you first-hand that Packers fans and Vikings fans are bitter hateful rivals. I would not want to see my #4 wearing a purple jersey.
I vote for the Chicago Bears. I am already dreaming of a trip to Chicago for some shopping, pizza and a game where the QB's last name is Favre.
I haven't talked about this with my Dad yet. I need to get his take on this one. If you read my last Favre blog, you'll remember that Dad has strong opinions (to say the least) about his favorite team.
I know there are plenty of Packers fans out there so please weigh in on this and let me know what you think. Vikings fans are not invited to comment (just kidding.)
