I'm heading to Ohio tomorrow for a bachelorette party for one of my best friends. Jen and I have known each other since 3rd grade. She's the 5th of our circle of 7 friends to get married. So the singletons are slowly dwindling down. I fully realize I will be the last to get married and that's more than fine with me (:
Our friend Julie isn't messing around though (finally.) She has been with her boyfriend for 14 years. If they aren't engaged by August 1st she's going to cut him loose. 14 YEARS! I still can't believe it. Odds are that they will finally get engaged and I will be the last single girl of our close-knit crew. Again, I must point out that it's fine with me.
The last time I blogged about being unwed everyone wrote in with sympathetic comments. The truth is, I'm not stressing about getting married. It will happen when the time is right. I do worry a little about having a baby. Since I'm getting ready to celebrate the big 33... I realize that I don't have a lot of time left.
Back to the bachelorette. Since we're older we are doing a party at my friend Becca's house. This does not mean it will be boring. When we all get together there's a ton of laughter, tears and ridiculous stories. We also tend to revert back to childhood. The last time we had a huge "girls night in" party things got out of control in an instant. Becca is big on themes so she did a Mexican theme with the decorations, drinks and food. So after lots of margaritas she brought out a pinata. It was filled with makeup, candy and plenty of "girlie" stuff.
At first I thought we would each take a whack at it and then we'd be done. I should have known better. Since we've been friends with each other for so long we have no inhibitions. Seriously, there is never an element of embarrassment with us. We will say or do anything in front of each other. So, the mixture of alcohol and utter craziness proved to be potent. Once that pinata broke open, all bets were off. Grown women were pushing and shoving each other and screaming with delight.
"Ooooh lipstick."
"I see chocolate!"
"GUM!"
I remember that Julie knocked me to the ground in her quest for a cherry lip gloss. It was beyond funny. We laughed so hard that it hurt.
So who knows what tomorrow night will bring. 2 of the ladies are pregnant right now but I don't think it will make much of a difference(: They'll just be sober and outrageous! I'm also taking Ginger with me since she really is one of the girls.
Here's a picture of Becca (dark hair), Jen (on the left, she's the one who is getting married soon) and me (the monkey in the middle). It was taken at our friend Marcy's wedding a couple of years ago. Jen and I were bridesmaids (just to explain the mint green dresses!) You might notice that my hair looks a little red. That was the result of a DIY last-minute dye job that went HORRIBLY wrong. It could be the topic of it's own blog (:
