Bursitis is a pain in the...

I found out this week that I'm really old.  I've developed bursitis in my shoulder.  It makes me feel like I'm 100 years old...eventhough I know that people of any age can get bursitis.  This is apparently the most common form of pain in the shoulder, knee, hip or any other joint.  It's just the inflamation of the fluid around your joint.  Man, does it hurt, though.

My daughter broke her arm about a month ago and I think I've now complainted more about my shoulder than she did about a broken bone.  That's pretty sad.  So while I feel really old and I'm moving slowly...I'm also crying like a little baby.

The doctor tells me that the best treatment is just to relax...I like that order from a doctor.  I'm going to use that as an excuse not to mow the lawn or edge the sidewalk or anything else that involves manual labor.  However, I will figure out a way to play Wii with my daughter while I recover.  Some things are just too important to sacrifice.

Posted by: Melissa I also am one of the many sufferers of bursitis i am only 33 yrs old but yet at times also feel a 100.it is very painful and limits my activities with my children.I would just love to live one day pain free.

Posted by: Trish Hi Rob, I know exactly what you mean, I too feel really old, I have no cartledge in my right knee and have been diagnosed with Bursitis and it hurts like the devil when it gets rolling, Specially when its a cool damp rainy day or if I've been on my feet to long, etc. Nsaids are suppose to be another good way to try and relieve it but I find that those upset the stomach more often than not so I don't take many of them. I do however sit in the bath and soak it for a bit and sometimes that works. Best wishes to you and all suffers of this mess!

Posted by: Christi your not a 100 years old? lol :) can I get an umbrella for that funny Rob? please!

Posted by: Debbie Don't beat yourself up too much Rob, many broken bones only hurt a day or two, (depending on how and where the fracture is) Bursitis hurts longer and just about as bad, I know, I've had both. I fractured my right arm then developed bursitis in my left elbow from overusing it due to my right arm being in a cast, one was as bad as the other.
