Pennsylvania -- Listen Up! West Virginia -- Never Mind

The focus for the Democrats in the presidential primary is on Pennsylvania now.  We got to hear a little of the game plan for Senator Hillary Clinton this week already.  You might have caught her statements about energy policy at a rally Tuesday in PA.

Here's an excerpt from her website:

"On the campaign trail, Senator Obama talks about clean energy. But in the Senate, he voted for Dick Cheney’s energy bill loaded with new tax breaks for oil companies. When he faced a tough choice, his support for a clean energy future turned out to be just words."

In 2005, Clinton voted against the energy bill.  Her opponent, Senator Barack Obama voted for the bill.

And in West Virginia -- both United States Senators Robert Byrd and Jay Rockefeller voted FOR the bill as well.

On the day it passed out of the Senate, Byrd said in a speech to Congress the bill wasn't perfect, but "it does however include a number of positive elements, including several relating to coal and clean coal technologies that I have supported for a number of years."

My guess is you won't hear about this energy bill from the Clinton camp when the campaigning begins in West Virginia over the next several weeks.

But you might hear it from the Obama camp.
