Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama basically conceded West Virginia and Kentucky to opponent Hillary Clinton in a story on CNN Thursday.
Here's what the CNN story said:
"Sen. Clinton is a formidable candidate. She is very likely to win West Virginia and Kentucky. Those are two states where she has insurmountable leads. We're going to have spend some time there. But we're also going to Oregon, Montana, South Dakota and Puerto Rico," he said.
I spent some of my Thursday trying to track down where Obama might appear. Since he is popular among younger voters, I figure a college campus would be a likely Obama spot. It would make sense for him to appear in the state's biggest media market and that makes Marshall University a potential attractive area for a visit. However, my friends at Marshall said they had nothing brewing.
We also heard rumors Thursday that Obama might be in the southern coalfields of West Virginia by the weekend. Still no official word though.
Meanwhile, the Clintons threw the trifecta at voters Wednesday-Thursday with Hillary, former pres Bill and daughter Chelsea in different locations across the state. Even with Obama admitting she'll win here, her camp isn't taking anything for granted.
