Reuters had an interesting article Sunday that theorized what would happen in the event that Barack Obama and John McCain tied for the presidency -- both with 269 electoral votes.  It takes 270 to become president.

There are many procedural moves that will take place and whatever happens would likely end up in a court battle.

However, the item I find most interesting is that each state's congressional delegation in the House of Representatives would get one vote for president.  That means Democrats Nick Rahall and Alan Mollohan and Republican Shelley Moore Capito would have to come to a decision about how to cast West Virginia's vote for president.

Considering that Rahall was an early supporter of Obama and Democrats overwhelmingly control West Virginia government at all levels, it looks fairly obvious West Virginia's vote would go to Obama.

But (and this is the fun part) would that go against the will of the people should the polls hold up and West Virginia pick McCain this November?

You bet it would!  We heard from folks in droves when the super delegates sided with Obama, despite West Virginia's large support for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.  People were appalled that Jay Rockefeller endorsed Obama so early -- well before West Virginians cast their ballots.

The funny thing about that is the indignation of West Virginians never transferred to the voting booth.  Rocky picked up the highest amount of votes of any candidate in the May primary.

So, people would probably be upset if West Virginia's congressional delegation voted for Obama, but they'd get over it in time to vote the incumbents back into office.

Posted by: nancy Emm: Hillary said "remember what happened to Bobbie Kennedy". The place is ripe with nuts, so who knows? It's a taking a chance. But Obama's ego is so humungous he has to be president. Hope he doesnt bankrupt the mines in W. Virginia! He is a "greenie" and you know how they hug trees and kiss frogs.

Posted by: emm I have heard of attepted assasinations on Obama Osama or what ever his name is. Does anyone think he will live through his 4 year term if elected. Sure it is easy to catch people that plan an assasination, but not to give anyone any bad ideals, what happens when someone crazy enough just walks up an takes a crack at him. I hate to think that we would have to have Bidden as president. In my opinion he tends to vote which ever way helps him the most.

Posted by: PAUL GEE HEY KAREN EITHER YOUR VERY IGNORANT OR NO NOTHING ABOUT POLITICS, BOTH OF THESE IDIOTS VOTED FOR THE BAIL OUT , THE ONLY ONE WHO SUPPORTED THE TAX PAYER WAS SHELLY MOORE CAPITO.

Posted by: Mamaw karen, how did Obama vote? Present I guess, that's about all he is good for. Robin Hood he is not, and Obama baby is more like a crooked carpet bagger; or just a crooked bag. O well, he is a pro bag of wind. Go on and vote, when this country goes to hell in Obama's basket, you'll be right there with him. Warning, it may get hot in his basket!!! Hee Ha Ha!

Posted by: Karen I don't have a comment on the tie vote--I wanted to know if John McCain knew he just voted to give banks 700 billion dollars to buy bad debts--for homes, credit cards and anything else the banks want rid of. Now John McCain says he will give people another 300 million or so to pay them for buying homes they couldn't afford to buy in the first place.
