McConnell/Lunsford: Political Barometer for the Country?

I was listening to one of my favorite political podcasts recently, "It's All Politics" on NPR, when the commentators Ken Rudin and Ron Elving brought up the race for the United States Senate out of Kentucky.

Rudin made an interesting point.  Since the polls close so early in Kentucky (6pm EST), Mitch McConnell's bid for re-election will be one of the first races determined that night.  McConnell has been in the Senate for eons and Rudin believes he will ultimately win that election.  However, polls show a tight race with the Democrat Bruce Lunsford.

Rudin said in essence that if McConnell loses, it will be the first sign that Republicans nationwide are in trouble. 

So, look for all eyes on the bluegrass come November 4th...at least early on!

    Bill came and stumped with Lunsford- McConnell is good for Kentucky. He's not necessarily good for the country. You are correct about the negative campaigning though. He's the best

    I follow politics very closely. McConnell is by far the worst up for reelection this cycle. I would much rather see Elizabeth Dole reelected from NC, but that seems out of the question. Anyway, McConnell is all about money. He has raised nearly $20 million and will spend all of it on ballons, signs and media. Throw the toad out. We got rid of Virginia's George Allen and Pa.'s Rick Santorum in 2006 - Let's Ditch Mitch next week!

    MCCONNELL IS A MASTER AT NEGEATIVE CAMPAINING.CAN'T SAY MUCH MORE FOR HIM.NOT GOOD FOR COUNTRY ONLY GOOD FOR MITCH.
