Weekend Weather at the Fair

Fair Weekend at Fair

The county fair season is in high gear this weekend and next with no less than 8 venues hosting kids in 4H, motor sports and summer concerts. Considering these are the dog days of summer, the weather will certainly cooperate this weekend.

Daytime highs with sunshine will be hot but manageable in the 85 (Saturday) to 90 (Sunday) range.Hay farmers should take advantage of the hot but dry daytime sunshine to get that second cut done. Drying conditions will be nearly perfect into the new week.

But a word of caution for next week’s fairs (Mason, Carter,Scioto and Athens), a blistering heat wave will gobble up much of the USA and we could be ground zero for near 100 degree temperatures. I sense our hottest weather of the summer next week!

Fair midways will be busy this Saturday evening in Elizabeth (Wirt), Sutton (Braxton), Matewan (Magnolia), Danville (Boone) and Gallipolis (Gallia across from Holzer Med Center) as folks by the thousands enjoy a unique piece of Americana.

Evening temperatures will fall into the cozy 70s as the sun sets in a blaze of glory.

Your Saturday night fair marquee is as follows.

Braxton: Sawyer Brown

Magnolia: Karaoke

Gallia Jr: Demolition Derby

Wirt: Fireworks

In Pinch, they have been at it for 109 years now (since the Days of Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders) and chances are there have not been many Reunions that have had better weather. Tonight's headliners are Hillbreed and the James Harrison Family.

In Johnson County Kentucky, the Van Lear Days celebration is celebrating its 25th year. The Saturday parade and free concerts are always fan faves!
