Festival Season Weather

The fair and festival season is still going strong. Tony takes you to the main stage and blogs on weekend weather woes and wows!

Weekend Weather & Events

This Friday evening the weather has been absolutely perfect for the Friends of Coal Bowl. The stunningly blue skies of afternoon have given way to the partly starry heavens of this pleasant late summer evening.

If I close my eyes I can see the big crowds at Camp Virgil Tate (Kanawha County Fair) listening to Andy Griggs and the masses walking downtown Louisa along Main and Railroad streets at Septemberfest.

In historic Guyandotte, Rocky Frazier and his crew are hosting the 4th annual Swine Fest. Trust me the pulled pork is tender and succulent!

OK, I will leave the links to these events for your perusal as you plan your weekend ahead. I am heading to Louisa for the Septemberfest parade in the morning.

Weather-wise, the air will be turning stickier on Saturday as humidity levels surge on the heels of a gusty south wind. That humidity spike will show up as an increase in morning haze first then clouds will gobble up the afternoon skies. Finally, showers and thundershowers will break thru by late day and night.

So high school football games that were re-scheduled to Saturday evening to avoid going up against the Herd & ‘Eers will find the gridirons wet and slippery.

The window of opportunity for rain will slowly close on Sunday morning for most though a shower can fall in the mountains as late as mid afternoon.

Weekend highs will be 75 to 80 with areas that get the booster shot of sun hitting 80.

Here are the links to the festivals I mentioned.
