Chocolaty Fall Weather

Leave it up to Tony to compare the weather to one of our favorite confections. Tonight's blog is all about M & Ms.

M & Ms Anyone?

They melt in our mouths, not in our hands. They also make a peanut taste chocolaty good! Of course they are the famous M & Ms and on this Tuesday night, I am using their sweet tendencies to metaphorically tell our upcoming weather story.

In the TV biz, M and M weather stands for Moist and Mild south winds that bring rain and fog to Appalachia. Here in fall, those M & M breezes can be a real nuisance.

First off, those tepid breezes will dampen leaves which can be slick to walk or drive upon. Careful if you are traveling a long and winding country road as wet leaves are known to be as slick as ice.

The other annoyance of the M & Ms, they usually lead to an increase in mold allergies. Once leaves get wet and stay wet, mold colonies will grow and thrive provided the air remains mild.

Speaking of M & M weather, highs to rest of the work week will make at least 55 and perhaps even the 60s. A few light showers are all I expect thru Wednesday dusk. But by Wednesday night and Thursday soaking showers and downpours will fall with an inch or more of rain to fall for the first time since late August in many areas.
