No Break for Winter Weary

It's already been a long and snowy winter and TC says this weekend will add to the reputation of this harsh season of 2009.

Weekend “Healthy” Snow Worth Watching

I had an interesting day shopping at the Kroger. Everyone from the checker (Tom) to the produce king (Ron) to the folks who were in line with me said the same thing; namely, enough is enough with this cold and snowy weather. “At least the sun feels better this late in the season”, I said “and by the way, don’t look for an early spring”!

Unfortunately, I do not have much solace for the winter weary as I expect snow to be on the ground with a biting wind for morning church services on Sunday.

Basically, the weekend arctic” front will arrive with a light shower or 2 on Saturday then as colder air knifes in, rain will change to snow at night. By Sunday dawn, a harsh wind will be howling from the north and snow showers and heavier squalls will dot the 3D Doppler radar scope.

Early call for accumulations is for a general 1”-3”, with local 4 inch amounts in the tallest hills of Coalfields and Kanawha Valley (Whitesville, Chelyan, Breaks Interstate Park, Kanawha Falls).

West Virginia turnpike and Rt. 19 travelers should complete your trip by sundown Saturday or risk being caught in some heavy snow bursts. I sense the region from Bluefield to Oak Hill and from Sutton to Summersville and Hico will measure a general 3”-6” by sundown on Sunday.

At the ski lodges, an easy 8 or 10 inches of wind blown powdery snow will stack during that same time as the ski season ramps up for a final month of great downhill fun.

By the way, the buys at the store were very nice!
A package of blueberries for $ 2.99 and natural almonds for $3.99 a can made my day. Using a coupon to add 6 vanilla and raspberry Stoneyfarm yogurts for .59/each put the finishing touches on a very productive and healthy day of shopping.

I take a handful of blueberries and almonds and add it to my yogurt for a healthy dessert everyday. Speaking of healthy, a healthy arctic snowfall should grace our presence this weekend.

As always when I forecast Sunday snows, please do not alter your plans now before the first flake of snow falls. The last thing I want to be blamed for is poor attendance at your house of worship.

My forecast is for snow on Sunday. Let’s see if it comes in as expected.
