Spring Curtain Call

If you missed out on enjoying the weekend weather, Tony says there is a do-over in store on Tuesday!

Lion-Like and Lamby in Same Day

My spell check software says there is no such a word as “Lamby” but for tonight’s blog I make a grammatical exception! You see Tuesday will feature some lion and “lamby” characteristics.

The March lion has 2 chances to roar on Tuesday. The first will come at dawn as a semi-tropical warm front crosses the region. A round of morning spring-like thunderstorms will march its way from Fountain Square in Cincinnati and the outlets of Jeffersonville to the German Village of Columbus.

I sense parts of Southern Ohio and Central WV will get in on the action for a half hour or so near daybreak. Gusty winds and a few crackles of thunder will accompany the stronger cells. In fact, it will be chilly enough in the heavens above for some pea-sized hail. The March lion then may leave a dawn wakeup call for some.

By mid-morning on Tuesday, the warm front will be shifting into Northern Ohio. That will put us dead center into another late spring type air mass with temperatures soaring toward 80 and winds kicking up dust to the tune of 25 miles per hour (about as strong as they were this past weekend).

I spoke to foresters in all 3 states this afternoon and there is a concern for more brush fire action on Tuesday. Best suggestion is to avoid any burning until Wednesday, when soaking showers will dampen our suddenly parched landscape.
