Fall Colors Dazzle at Yatesville
It’s the first of two peak weekends for fall color across much of the region as Mother Nature has her paintbrush out.
The frosts of this past week have accelerated the change in color and now this Friday’s rains are hastening the metamorphous. Hey, it’s pretty in the hills this weekend!
I had the chance to play Eagle Ridge golf course at Yatesville Lake State Park this week and all I can say is WOW! The pictures with this blog say it all!
To get to the Lake, take Rt 23 (the country music highway) south out of Catlettsburg to Louisa. At Louisa, take a right onto Rt 32 and follow the signs out to the lake. To get to the golf course, stay on Rt 23 for a half mile before turning right twice. That road winds for about 5 miles and walla, you will see the sign for the course.
My suggestion: bring plenty of film for the camera and golf balls as Eagle Ridge is as tough as it gets. I shot 100 from the back tees on Thursday.
For your viewing pleasure, I am adding some shots that Len Wellman shot at the course. Enjoy the pictures and the golf course which is in mint condition.
